My workgroup participated in the Virtual Monsters & Ghouls Escape Room. The room was challenging and fun. We used the escape room as a team-building activity. It was an excellent experience for the entire group.

How it Works
Description
Compete in mini teams to see who can escape from monsters and ghouls the quickest in this virtual escape room challenge!
Madame Grim hosts her annual monster ball on the night before Halloween, also known as mischief night. Everyone with intentions of mischief comes to celebrate in her castle.
In the middle of the party, she hears some creaking in the attic and goes to check it out. Behind the door, she hears a voice, a tussle, and then boom! A window shatters as she opens the door. To her horror, she sees the Crimson Crystal, which holds the Spirit of Halloween, has been stolen: a nearly impossible feat as a guarding spell protected the Crystal. Without the Crimson Crystal, there will be no Halloween.
Despite the clues left in the attic, Madame Grim has no idea what ghost, ghoul, or villain has attempted to ruin this day. Help us save Halloween by catching who did this and getting Crimson Crystal back.
Hurry before the holiday is ruined forever!
What your group will do:
- Our facilitator will welcome the group, go over the rules of the game, and start the event with high energy
- Groups will be presented with clues, puzzles, and activities in the form of character descriptions, virtual maps, audio clips, and video clips. They will play mini-games to uncover additional clues and reach their goal
- Most of the 75 minutes will be spent in mini-teams, but there will be the opportunity to interact with the whole group several times throughout the event

- We will collect the minimum at checkout as a deposit and then we’ll finalize your payment when you’ve finalized your headcount after your event

I lead a team of creatives (Graphic Designers, Copywriters, UX/UI) in a company that historically takes Halloween very seriously. Any one that leads a team (or is part of a team ) can relate that since the pandemic, team building has become more challenging. I have designers in multiple time zones now, and others with apprehension about in-person meetings, I was on the lookout for a virtual team building solution. As part of our Halloween festivities, I invited everyone to dress up, and join in the Virtual Monsters & Ghouls: Escape Room hosted through CourseHorse. Our host, Stephanie, guided us through the process, dividing the team up and managing any (of the few) technical challenges along the way. I have a few serious competitors on the team, and there was a some great competitive energy and camaraderie. At the end of the event, neither team solved the escape room – but we all had a great time in the process. I have recommended CourseHorse to my other fellow peer-managers who are looking for team building solutions in these unconventional times. This year (now that we can come together in person again), I am considering doing something similar, with my remote employees calling in, and my hybrid employees joining in person.
