The turn-of-the-century Marietta Town Square is lined with an eclectic mix of both classic buildings and modern textures that offer the eager photographer plenty of fantastic images to capture. There are dozens of photo opportunities to explore within a short walking distance, including funky alley ways, antebellum homes, and the Marietta National Cemetery. Join your Digital Photo Academy instructor for a photographic journey of the sites and people that make Marietta Square what it is today.
Shooting in Marietta Square gives you the opportunity to photograph architectural history, from the old brick Marietta Museum of History to the classic theater to the turn-of-the-century homes, just like those featured in Gone with the Wind. In addition to capturing history on your camera, photographing in Marietta Square allows you to create history and preserve memories. Photograph your friends and loved ones out on the town, snap a shot of your favorite restaurant, and freeze the children playing by the fountain into a beautiful image. As an additional feature, your DPA Instructor will also provide powerful tips for working within the theme and details of the locale to create powerful portraits.
We will meet at the fountain on the Square. Please bring your DSLR or another type of digital camera that you use, a fully-charged battery, and the equipment that you can carry. You should dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and carry a bottle of water.

Each Composition in the Field class begins with a talk with one of our experienced instructors, and then you and your fellow students take a stroll through one of a variety of photogenic locales (in any of the 20+ cities the DPA encapsulates). There is street photography, magnificent interiors, farmers markets, zoos, landscapes, and more, photos of which are included within. These photos are a mix of student and instructor images in many different venues and cities across the United States and Canada.
You will have fun in the three hour session, learn to shoot strategically, get more interesting photos of the event, and walk away with a foundation to improve your photographs in the future, whether you’re traveling, or at a birthday party and everywhere in between.
Please note – if a class must be cancelled due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control we will be happy to work with you to reschedule.
