Sara is the founder and co-owner of Local Motion Studio. She began studying ballet as a small child in Connecticut, then minored in dance at New York University, where she was introduced to modern dance. While at NYU she Deborah Damast and Dancers and continued her studies after graduation at Peridance center until moving to Alexandria 17 years later. Here she danced with Choreographers Collaboration Project for almost a decade.
Before leaving the city she received her Pilates training at the Kane School of Core Integration (now Kinnected Center). Sara also has done continuing education in Franklin Method, Brain Dance, Debra Goodman's approach to Pregnancy and Postpartum fitness, where she completed the advanced training.
"I encourage my students to be their own movement investigators knowing there is no "one way" to do anything. I want to see everyone find movement they enjoy and then be able to do that movement for a very long time! My passion for movement and all of its wonder and benefits spills into every modality I teach".
