What you'll learn in this on location photography class:

Wanting to learn all the tips and techniques for wildlife photography? This two-part class will give you all the tools you’ll need to become a successful wildlife photographer. Designed for the beginning/novice photographer, this course will get you well on your way in becoming a successful wildlife photographer. 

Seasoned bird and wildlife photographer, Emily Carter Mitchell will guide you through all you will need to know about wildlife photography. 

The second session will be a field shoot, where we will meet at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and develop our photographic skills in capturing birds and wildlife in their habitats. You will learn how to identify the type of light on your subject and how to best capture your subject with the light available. 

Learn some of the tips and secrets bird photographers use to get those beautiful captures that you see and gain confidence in your photography while capturing some of the exciting birds and animals at the zoo.

Topics include:

  • What type of camera equipment associated accessories needed for wildlife photography.
  • How expose properly on your subject, using the exposure triangle and the histogram.
  • Learn about habitats and seasons for where you can find your subjects.
  • Field techniques and ethics in wildlife photography.

Recommended Equipment:

  • Digital camera with telephoto lens
  • Tripod (and if available a gimbal head)

Please note that there is an entrance fee of $26 Adult ($24 online) or $23 Senior ($21 online) is not included in the price.

  • A refund or a credit towards another class (less a $20 processing fee) can be given if cancellation notice is given more than 6 business days from the scheduled class.
  • If there is no cancellation notice, or it is given 6 business days or less, no refund or credit will be given.

  • Requests to reschedule a class will incur a $20 processing fee provided notice is given more than 6 business days prior to the class.
  • If request to reschedule is given less than 6 business days prior to the class, no refund or credit will be given.

If the school cancels or postpones a class due to weather or low enrollment, you can choose a full refund or a credit towards a future class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
