One of DC’s most iconic areas, Capitol Hill is an ideal place to practice natural light photography and portraiture. We'll find spots with gorgeous light, iconic architectural structures, and epic spaces, all provide great opportunities to frame subjects and capture stunning images.
Join us for this unique class where you will learn how to take beautiful photos of human subjects. A professional model is joining the team for this amazing class to ensure professional posing with a dramatic flair. Each photographer will have the opportunity to photograph our model with the instructor's guidance.
Topics Covered:
- Exposing for bright natural light in dark “contrasty” buildings
- Composing and framing subjects with leading lines nand architectural elements
- Architectural photography
- Using shallow depth of field and open apertures.
Suggested equipment is DSLR or mirrorless camera with lenses in the range of 24-70, or 24-105mm. If you have a prime lens in this range bring it along, its wide aperture (usually f1.4 to f2.8, depending on the lens) will help capture stunning portraits with depth of field. No flash or tripods for this class, the goal is to learn tips for photographing with natural light.
Participants should have a basic understanding of exposure controls, we will not be able to introduce you to this material at the class. If you are not familiar with it, consider taking a Photo Basics class first.
Participants should be able to walk several blocks around Capitol Hill, some may be slightly uphill.
