While the weather is still a little chilly, let’s step inside a tropical oasis at the Rawlings Conservatory in Baltimore, MD. Learn how to develop your artistic point of view and compose compelling images of botanicals using close-up photography techniques.
Housed in a stunning glass conservatory, these botanic gardens feature five areas of varying botanicals including an orchid room, a desert oasis, and more.
Join us and gain a better understanding of your camera settings in variable light conditions as well as how framing and background selections impact your compositional decisions.
Topics include:
- How to create strong botanical art images
- Equipment used for close-up photography
- Camera settings and exposure settings
- Working with various lighting in your compositions
We will share information about using reflectors, diffusers, backgrounds, and extension tubes.
Recommended Equipment:
- A digital camera with lens(es) in the range of 18-300mm.
- Although not required, a macro lens, extension tubes, reflectors or diffusers can be useful.
Students will pay the $5 donation fee as they enter the conservatory.
