As a South Seattle resident, Lorretta enjoys teaching and engaging with people in her community. She has been teaching American Sign Language (ASL) at the high school level for 21 years. Prior to her ASL experience, she was an interpreter with a local school district and at a community college in Ventura, California. Her educational background includes community colleges in California and the Seattle Central area as well as Green River Community College. Lorretta majored in special education with a focus on ASL and interpreter training. She earned her teaching certificate from Central Washington University. ASL is Lorretta’s passion – she loves the language, the culture and its people.
