Great class to get started with python. Pros - We covered a lot in only three lessons. (Taking your time to go over the notes and exercises afterwards is imperative if you want to learn). -Art and Tim were great teachers who were happy to answer any questions and are very knowledgable. -There was a snowstorm on the night of my second class, and I couldn't make it from work in time. Art let me move to the next cohort with no dramas at all. -Art is always available for questions, he got back to me within minutes whenever I asked him about something. Cons - This may not even be a con, but we jumped straight into the language and syntax. If you are a complete beginner to coding, you'll need to go over what a terminal is, what a shell is, and how enter things in the command line. I had dabbled a bit on Codecademy, but never really attempted to code for real and this was a bit disorienting at first. About 20 min of googling after the first class had me up to speed though. Overall a great class and would totally recommend if you want to start learning python.
  • Introduction to Python Programming

    Anonymous review on 8/24/2018
I enrolled in the Introduction to Python course after noticing how many jobs are needing Python experience recently. I already had programming experience and a Computer Science degree but wanted to take a course to make learning a bit easier and to force myself to do it. Art is a great instructor and used many clear examples during the course. My particular class only had 3 students including myself and the 2 others were not tech savvy. Art was very good at handling their questions and keeping the pace of the class moving though I would imagine if the class was larger it would be more difficult with many people who didn't know some technical basics especially since it's only a 3 session course. I walked away with a solid foundation in Python though and I've been learning on my own as well and going into more advanced features beyond what was taught in the course. It's a good springboard to start learning Python. Art also provided potential job interview questions and that same week I actually encountered one of them in a real interview so he was right on the mark. You will benefit the most if you do work on your own between the classes and make use of the resources provided to you for self study.

This course was a great introduction to the various data types in Python and when to use them. The exercises were challenging but improve your understanding of the material. An ideal choice for someone who has some familiarity with programming but doesn't know Python.

Discover the Best Python Classes in Seattle

Between its usefulness for professionals and its easiness for new learners, Python has remained among the most popular coding languages since 2016. Among data scientists in particular, Python is the top choice for programming and is commonly used to build Artificial Intelligence computer programs that learn by processing data. As a versatile language with applications in a variety of other industries, Python is an incredibly lucrative skill for anyone who wants to chart a tech career.

Much of Python’s popularity stems from its efficiency and adaptability. Using integration modules, Python can easily be combined with other coding languages you may already know. Python also comes with plenty of time-saving perks, including smoother reading for quicker debugging and refactoring. In addition, through Python’s many open-source packages, coders can minimize analysis errors that would otherwise waste precious time.

If you’re seeking a tech position that requires Python skills, getting in-depth training at a bootcamp or other career training program will give you the strongest chance of success. Alternatively, if you’ve been comfortably working in a tech position for a long time, learning Python can still be an important way to keep your skills up to date.
