Introduction to Macro Photography

Macro Photography is an increasingly popular form of photography and with good reason. It is accessible and is a very broad genre of photography, offering something for just about any level of photographer from the seasoned pro to the novice beginner. If you have ever wanted to get "up close and personal" to your photography subject, macro photography might just be for you. The Intro to Macro Photography Workshop is held at our studio in San Jose, and is perfect for those who have a grasp of photography basics, and are ready to take their skill to a new level.

Topics covered in this workshop:

• What defines macro photography
• Review of equipment
• Setting up the perfect macro shot
• Finding subject matter to photograph

This is a 3 hour workshop that includes in-studio setup allowing students to maximize their workshop experience.

We start with a brief presentation to introduce Macro photography concepts, camera settings, and compositional tips that students can use during the shoot.

Each student will have their own Macro Photography station set up with carefully chosen subject matter that will challenge the way you "see" subjects. During the shoot, students will learn how small changes in light and angles can drastically impact your images. You will also learn how to capture unique character and textures in your subjects. Finally, we stretch your imagination with the opportunity to do some abstract macro photography. Then the fun really begins when students have the chance to put everything together while taking photos of subject matter of their own choosing.

• Macro Lens
• Tripod
• Optional: Shutter Release/Remote

Please Note: Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian

If students have a camera, bring it! Students also have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the instructor if they are in the market for a DSLR camera if they're in the market for one.

Although we email each student the Power Point presentation, they might consider taking additional notes during the class.
