Annalee Levin

Teaches at SF School of Needlework and Design

Annalee Levin is a visual artist who works in a range of formats including sculpture, video, and textiles. She is passionate about traditional craft and its potential for application to modern themes and contexts. In recent years, hand embroidery has become central to her art practice.

Annalee received a BA in Studio Art from Macalester College and an MFA from the sculpture department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also studied traditional hand embroidery at the Royal School of Needlework in the UK. She exhibits her art internationally and teaches regularly in the Bay

This class was great! Annalee was very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. I learned a lot, and Annalee was helpful in coming around and giving us help when people had some trouble trying out particular stitches.
