What you'll learn in this kids baking class:

As American as apple pie? Not really; apple pie originated in England. German chocolate cake, on the other hand, is a distinctly American dessert. So are brownies and chocolate chip cookies. America’s baking history is diverse and delicious. We’ll explore some quintessential Americana baking this week, including Apple pie, an American staple despite its origins. By the end of this 3 day camp, each student should have a grasp on the art and science of baking. They will explore the fundamentals behind their favorite foods when they cook every day. Kids treat a parent on Thursday and proudly show off their cooking skills they learned.

THIS IS A 3-SESSION PROGRAM for whole family or children starting Grade 4 through 12. One registration per household for one zoom link.

Menu Highlights:

  • whoopie pies
  • cornbread
  • German chocolate cake
  • baked mac n cheese

Students will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class. Please have children wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back.

Your kids will learn

  • Basic knife skills in most camps
  • Kitchen safety
  • How to bake and/or cook a variety of foods
  • Work with appropriate kitchen tools and equipment
  • Create delicious foods from recipe
