What you'll learn in this embroidery class:

Learn to embellish with mirrors!

Shisha Mirrorwork was popularixed in India during the 17th century and became a fashionable technique for embellishing a variety of clothing, accessories and textiles.  Recent trends have seen Shisha mirrors appear on designer clothing and luxury goods.

Come along to this workshop and be inspired to learn about embroidery, culture, and history!

Four variations of the Shisha technique will be taught, covering traditional and contemporary versions.  Students will have the opportunity to practice these methods, before designing and creating their own Shisha sampler.

Incorporating the Shisha tradition into contemporary embroidery design is a fun way to add variety, expand knowledge and preserve cultural traditions!

Indian Tea and Sweets provided.

Level: No experience necessary.  Beginners welcome.
