Nicole Mullins

Teaches at The House of Yogi

Nicole Mullins, PT/E-RYT received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (1993) and her Master of Physical Therapy (1995) from California State University, Fresno.During her career she has worked in burn/wound care, skilled nursing, acute care, outpatient neurological and orthopedic settings. Through continuing education and clinical experience, she has developed a holistic approach to physical therapy utilizing the variety of skills and knowledge she has gained.

Over the years, Nicole has come to understand that no single approach offers all components necessary for healing. Nicole herself experiences sacroiliac joint dysfunction and her son has spina bifida occulta, which is ever-changing as he grows and develops. In an effort to offer the most comprehensive care possible to her patients and her family, Nicole has sought out and completed numerous trainings. She has studied functional manual therapy (FMT) techniques developed by Greg and Vicky Johnson, physical therapists and founders of the Institute of Physical Art. She is currently studying visceral manipulation based on the research and training of Jean-Pierre Barral through the Barral Institute. In 2000, Nicole completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training through the College of Purna Yoga and continued on to participate in over 500 hours of yoga training within next few years. During that time, she received a 100-hour certification in Yoga for a Happy Back developed by Rachel Krentzman, PT/ERYT.

In addition, she studied with Judith Hansen Lasater PT/RYT, Aadil Palkhivala founder of the College of Purna Yoga, and with numerous teachers at the Mount Madonna Center.

Nicole incorporates her training and experience into the treatment plans she develops for her patients. She is a “hands-on” therapist and enjoys working one-on-one with her clients. Each patient is treated as a unique individual and receives customized care based on his or her specific needs and goals. Treatments emphasize the identification and resolution of movement dysfunctions and soft tissue restrictions in order to facilitate the restoration of normal biomechanics. Through this process, Nicole strives to create an environment in which the body is able to utilize it’s innate ability to heal itself with resultant decreased pain, increased function and minimized risk of future injury.
