Kate Doyle Griffiths

Kate Doyle Griffiths is a cultural anthropologist specializing in Southern Africa, gender, work, labor, strikes, medical anthropology, HIV/AIDS, social reproduction theory, Marxist theorization of the family, and queer/trans Marxism.

They are an editor of Spectre Journal,  and have also written for The Nation, Viewpoint Magazine, In These Times, Anthropology Today, Cultural Anthropology, Comparative Literature and Culture, Historical Materialism, the Verso Books Blog, Red Wedge Magazine, Labor Notes, New Politics, and Hypocrite Reader.

Their writing appears in a number of edited collections including Occupying Wall Street: The Story of an Action that Changed America, and forthcoming in Between Certain Death and A Possible Future: Queer Writing on Growing Up with The AIDS Crisis and Transgender Marxism. Kate is a PhD candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center Department of Anthropology, and teaches at Brooklyn College, in addition to Brooklyn Institute for Social Research. They are currently working on a manuscript on the anthropology and political history of the development of the forces of social reproduction.
