Learn the fundamental concepts of medical vocabulary and coding in the field of medical billing. Explore major body systems, anatomy, physiology, and word parts while gaining an introduction to diagnosis and procedure coding for physician offices and suppliers.
Introduction to the basic concepts to build a strong medical vocabulary, while learning to identify the major body systems, structures, anatomy & physiology, and their related word parts.
The course also provides a basic introduction to diagnosis and procedure coding for the physician office and supplier.
Please read: Successfully complete all 6 courses to earn a certificate of completion in Medical Billing and Coding from El Camino College. The six-part course also prepares you to take the National HealthCareer Association (NHA) CBCS (Certified Billing Coding Specialist) exam and includes the NHA exam preparation materials, the CBCS exam itself, and the proctoring service fee. The Medical Terminology and Medical Insurance Handbook textbooks are included with the course and will be provide in a PDF format. Students are required to purchase the coding books that are released each fall (October/November): CPT Professional Book by Medicine & Health Science Books HCPCS Level II Professional Edition by Medicine & Health Science Books ICD-10 CM book/the Complete Official Codebook with Guidelines by Medicine & Health Science Books
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Cancellation
If the College cancels a class for any reason, those pre-registered will be notified by phone and email and payment will be refunded. The school also reserve the right to substitute instructors or reschedule class times if necessary.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
