If English is your second language, and you have a strong accent that makes communication difficult, our Accent Coaches can help you. The constant need to repeat yourself in order to be understood can lead to intense frustration for both you and the people to whom you are speaking. This can make working in a professional setting seem nearly impossible, and it may be time for you to seek help with:
- Speak clearly in person and over the phone
- Increasing confidence in daily and workplace situations
- Learning helpful communication strategies
- Delivering presentations effectively
Weekly online, face to face or group courses are taught by our professional accent reduction coaches. They will help you achieve the goals listed above, as well as any personal goals you discuss and develop during your accent coaching sessions. The process varies for each individual, and it could take anywhere from 3-6 weeks to start seeing major results.
In these courses you will learn:
- Elimination of mistakes arising from misunderstandings with regard to treatment, dosages, and instructions.
- Enhanced confidence in professional communication
- More efficient use of time when patients do not have to ask for information to be repeated.
- More effective presentations in meetings.
- Reduced misunderstandings between employees, and between employees and supervisors.
- Become clearer over the phone and on conference calls.
- Personalized, Hands-On Coaching Sessions
Your Accent Coach will work with you to learn what you need by speaking with you one on one over an internet platform, asking you about your concerns and assessing your problematic areas. Accent reduction coaching sessions will teach you the appropriate speech modification techniques and the basic sounds and principles of the American accent. Your coach will emphasize:
- Syllable Stress
- Content and Function Words
- Word Stress and Phrasing
- Intonation
- Tone and Volume
- Presentations
- Idioms and Vocabulary
- Oral Exercises
- Sound and Speech Performance Problems
- Review and Practice Areas
Coaching methods include text resources, software, and videos to enhance your learning experience and increase your understanding. At the end of the program, your speech will be analyzed again to show how much you have improved.
