The instructor teaches “acting technique” with an eclectic approach. All the work is geared to making you look most effective on screen. In the final class we will screen your work in a theater for casting directors, agents, managers, etc.

Good class. Mark and Karen are both encouraging and provide great tips on how to improve your acting. I would've loved if the class were a bit more wholesome (less cursing and more encouraging, lighter scripts) though the class does push individuals to feel the character and make the part their own.

It was a really great experience! I wanted to try something new. I had never really acted before but I do have a flare for the dramatic. I always knew I had a knack for acting but seeing myself on the screen really have me the confirmation I wanted and the tips I need to be even better!

Mark Stolzenberg makes this class fun for anyone, whether a newcomer or a veteran. He gives pointers throughout the class either before someone does his/her part before the camera or reacting to the part just done. All pointers and help are given to improve the actor's performance. He also opens it up to class members to give their opinions on another's performance. I recommend anyone to take these classes either as a trial or to stick with it.

Great class! Awesome atmosphere with the perfect guru. These classes are amazing. The best part is it's all on camera and you get to see and discuss with mark at the end of the class what can be done to make it better. High recommended.

An amazing, inspirational class. Great learning experience. I took the class because CBS recommends it and I really happy that I did. I am a professional film actor and I highly recommend this course. I am going to sign up for a whole year program. Mr. Stolzenberg is an amazing teacher and a genius at what he does. He has great communication skills and he really cares about all his students. The class was a bit full but he managed it well and I learned a lot from watching other students work. The one class I took was chock full of information closeup work, eyelines, projecting your voice on camera, how to be believable, auditioning tips, and using subtext. I am already auditioning better after just one class. A couple of students came in late which was a little disruptive. If you want to be a film and TV actor, you must study with this guy. He will get you working in the industry. Reviewed by a professional Screen Actors Guild Member

This is probably the worst class i ever took it says intimate and you can recieve attention from your mentor that the average class is 9 people meanwhile up to 20 people walk in. How am i supposed to recieve any attention in such little time with that many people there the class is from 7pm to 9pm they should be strict on coming in on time meanwhile people walk in an hour late and interupt class and have to catch them up on what they are doing. And there are no requierements they mix in people who have more experience with people that have no experience and just eat up the class time. I literaly did 1 min of acting in a 2 hour class i would not recommend this class to anyone save your money.

This was my first acting class ever. The instructor gave great feedback and I thought the emotions exercise was great. The exercises were filmed, which was also very useful. Unfortunately, the class was way too big. For $100 I expect to do more than 1 minute of 'acting'. There were students from Groupon and other similar websites and several students who were in their 2nd or 3rd class. The students on their 2nd/3rd class should not be grouped with the beginner class. Those students were doing several minute scenes/monologues twice. It took a lot of time away from the class.

Question from Danielle G.
I was wondering how many students on average there are in a class as it seems like the 1 session class and the 3 session classes always overlap. And is there enough time for each student to actually work/act enough?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Danielle, the average class size is 10-12 students. Every student works on a camera in every class and they see the playback.

Hi, my question is regarding the 11 sessions' course. It looks like one can start the 11 sessions at any of the weekly sessions. Is this correct? Are the people participating in this course all start and end together or can new people join midway? I'm trying to get a sense of the progression of the course before I commit to 11 classes, as I don't have any acting background. Thanks!

Is the 3-class course good enough to put down as experience on a resume? This is a beginner asking who is interested in starting out in commercials and small film/ tv roles.
Answer from Natalia Z. Verified Student
Yes, I think it’s good enough. But you will get the most out of it if you take more than 3.

Question from Nelson A.
Hi, I have no experience whatsoever in acting but would like to start and explore some classes first, such as this one, to see if this is something I would like to pursue. Would this course layout the foundation, if I decide to pursue acting full time? Thanks!
Answer from Elena W. Verified Student
It would help give you a sense of what acting on camera feels like and if you have some level of natural talent for it. The first few classes cover a range of things expected from an actor (showing extreme emotion, reactions without dialogue etc.) so help give a sense of where you have strengths and gaps. It’s a great introduction to acting and to see if it’s something you want to pursue more seriously.
