By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Breastfeeding Specialists will be able to assess the mother/baby dyad for optimal breastfeeding and implement in-home support strategies through the first weeks of postpartum.
Credit:
Participants completing the course earn 24 contact hours from the CA Board of Registered Nurses and Childbirth Professionals International.
Course Modules:
The course has 7 online modules to complete. Each module is self paced and includes videos, reading from textbook, and straight forward assignments to complete.
Available for purchase in digital format, hard copy, rental, and check your local library.

Breastfeeding Handbook, by Newfoundland and Labrador

- Identify historical and contemporary issues relating to infant nursing practices
- Analyze the intrinsic significance and transformative experience of breastfeeding and the impact it has upon women, children, families and society
- Use breastfeeding devices to facilitate feeding infants and help women cope with breastfeeding challenges
- Evaluate supportive and non-supportive counseling strategies
- Promote the health benefits of exclusive breastfeeding
- Distinguish characteristics of proper latch and suckling

Remote Learning
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

In-person workshops -Without exception all refund requests must be submitted in writing 30 days before workshop is scheduled to begin. A nonrefundable fee of $75 will be retained in all cases. Late cancellations receive a credit to attend same workshop at any location within 1 year. Credits are not transferable to a different attendee. We extend our empathy to anyone experiencing an unforeseen circumstance including personal or family illness or an emergent event. You may request a credit to attend another workshop at any location within 1 year.
