Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this drawing class:

Still life study helps students develop the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Proportion, composition, the relationships of objects, how color affects, focus, edges, technique and applications and effects. Still Life and drawing inanimate objects is part of every art student’s Foundation course, as it allows you to move through the different stages of the process and grow confidence before moving onto painting. In the first few weeks, we will develop an eye for line- form & tone in still-life arrangements using a combination of pencil, charcoal or inks. Practical exercises on how to draw using the right side of the brain, how to draw curves, use contour technique & straight line approximation technique, the essentials of drawing ellipses, drawing a cylinder, hemispheres & how to employ horizontal lines & vanishing points, & how to use cross contours to give your drawings a sense of volume and accuracy- these classic exercises help you learn how to see shape and form. In the last few weeks of the course, we will put together all the techniques to create more ambitious accurate finished drawings.

MATERIALS: Most materials are provided, pencils, paint, brushes, paper, but NO CANVAS. Please purchase your canvas prior to your class. Specialty materials like glazes or finishing mediums are NOT supplied. We recommend Amazon & Blick Art Supplies for all your needs & some cool deals!

Please note we do have select canvas sizes available for purchase at our studio $35 & upwards, cash on delivery ( sorry NO IOUS! ) Please note we may not have the size canvas you require, so if you require an extra large canvas or a specific or unusual size, please bring it with you to class.

If you are signing up for one individual session, basic supplies will be required. Keep in mind you will need a canvas if you are intending to paint. Please note you may not complete a project in one session, you are welcome to sign up for another class or finish your project at home. Painting takes time!

Refund Policy

Refunds

After registration, class tuition is non-refundable and nontransferable. No refunds will be issued after enrollment and payment.

We are not responsible for issuing refunds or rescheduling for any missed classes. If you do not show up for your enrolled class or camp you will NOT be entitled to any rescheduling, credit or refund.

Requesting to reschedule your enrollment before course start time or during will incur an admin fee of $75 for full class course or camp package. No refunds.

In the case that you have signed up for a full class course, after your first class, if you are dissatisfied with the quality of the program or feel it is not right for you, we will do our best to reschedule you into another class that is more suitable for your goals. If that is not suitable we will also offer the option to gift you the remaining credit in the form of a Gift Certificate to a friend who might enjoy the creative experience instead. Please note, the admin processing fee ($75) is deducted as well as any classes already taken from the total fee paid.

We do NOT offer refunds on single-day class or camp enrollments.

Credits

If you pull out of your class before it starts and request a credit instead of any rescheduling option. A credit will be issued that is valid for 6 months from the date of your original enrollment.

The value of the credit will be for the balance of any remaining sessions (if any) with an additional deduction of a $75 registration fee.

Requests to pull out of your enrolled class and turn your enrollment into a credit must be received via email 3 business days prior to the class start date.

If you do not notify us within that time period, you will not be eligible to any class credit or rescheduling opportunities.

Credits are valid for six months form original date of issue and are null and void after that time.

No Shows

If you do not show up for an in-person class or camp or online experience that you are enrolled in, you are marked as a no-show and are NOT entitled to any refund, credit, or rescheduling.

Class Course Cancellations by the school

Although class course cancellations are extremely rare, we reserve the right to cancel classes and make every effort to notify students in advance of these changes.

If enrollment goals are not met for the course we reserve the right to cancel a session up to 48 hours prior to the class. We will notify you via email to reschedule the class to an alternative upcoming date or give you the option to transfer into another class. Or we can offer you a class credit which can be used within a six-month period.

On occasion, a course start date may be pushed back if enrollment goals are not met. In this instance, you will receive a credit for the price of the class that did not take place.

In the event of a total class cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, and if a student is unable to switch into another class offering, a full refund will be granted.

In the event of severe weather conditions, we will follow the NYC public school closing, and classes will be rescheduled.

Class Course Cancellations "Beyond our Control"

During the ongoing crisis, if an in-person class or any live activity or program is canceled before or during the course due to current situations beyond our control, for example: more severe restrictions by the government + further lockdowns and/or where it is not possible for the school to continue to offer live programming our contingency plan is:

  • Classes will continue as usual but will be offered ONLINE until after restrictions are lifted.
  • Anyone who is registered in a class will be issued a Zoom Link to join.
  • We will not be issuing any credits. If you do NOT wish to attend an ONLINE program, we will offer the option to transfer your current enrollment over to a friend, this will not be in the form of a direct enrollment into the current online program.
  • If the class you are signed up for is cheaper online, the balance will be used toward admin processing. No balance refunds will be offered.
  • If these terms seem strict to you, we understand, but having barely survived the first lockdown, our studio had to re think our policies in order to stay open and keep offering the programs we offer. It is simply not possible for us to be more lenient in the event of lockdowns.
  • If you are not in agreement with these policies we recommend signing up for single day options where possible, in the event that class courses transfer to online experiences.

Cancellation or Rescheduling Requests for ONLINE Group Classes

We are not in a position to offer any make-ups or rescheduling in our Zoom classes.

The instructors are professional and booked in advance and cannot be canceled last minute.

If you don’t show up for an online class, please do not email us looking for rescheduling, refunds or credits as we will not be able to accommodate your request.

In the circumstance that you are canceling your full enrollment in an Online course, you must give us at least 6 business days notice via email. You will be issued with a credit with an admin processing fee of $75 per enrollment/ per person.

We are sorry if these policies seem strict but we simply cannot run our programs to suit everyone’s personal schedule or last-minute changes in calendars.

Rescheduling Tickets for Single Classes

Due to COVID-19 high cancellation rates and unpredictability, spots in our classes are limited and teachers are booked in advance, so as a small business it is simply not possible for us to deal with last-minute drop outs. We are unable to run our classes according to last-minute changes to student’s personal schedules.

The school is now making it easier to reschedule classes. rescheduling tickets can be purchased 2 business days prior to your enrolled class for a fee of $25 (per single class per person.)

Rescheduling Tickets are VALID for regular group classes in: Adult, Kids or Teen Programs.

Rescheduling Tickets are NOT valid for Toddler Classes, Online Classes, Camps, Private lessons or any other event or activity at our studio.

Rescheduling Tickets must be purchased at least 2 business days in advance of your enrolled class. Please note if a rescheduling ticket is not purchased in time, you will be charged for your session regardless of your non-attendance.

Rescheduling Tickets are NOT VALID for the rescheduling of a full class course, or cancellation of full class courses please read on for cancellation Policies.

The rescheduling of classes is subject to availability in our other classes. In the event your request is NOT available we will contact you by email with an alternative option.

Rescheduling will NEVER carry over into a new semester, so please do NOT email us after your class course is over and ask to reschedule missed classes into new semesters!

Rescheduling requests made verbally to an instructor, or by last-minute phone call or text to any member of our staff, will NOT be deemed valid notifications of cancellations or requests for rescheduling & are NOT eligible for rescheduling, credits, or refunds.

Rescheduling or Cancellation for FULL CLASS COURSE

Once registration is received, no refunds are issued. If you need to cancel or reschedule a full class course, please email us with your request prior to your class start date time. We will issue you with a credit valid for 6 months that can be used toward any of our programs within this period. You will be charged $75 ADMIN FEE for the cancellation and this will be deducted form your credit.

If you do not email us prior to class start time, you will be charged for your classes regardless of your non attendance.

Cancellation or Rescheduling Requests for Camps

Our camps book weeks in advance so we are not in a position to offer any refunds or credits.

If you miss your enrolled camp date due to any reason, you are marked as a no-show & are not entitled to any rescheduling, credit, or refunds.

If you know one week in advance of your scheduled enrollment in a camp that you are unable to attend, please email us and we will be able to release the camp spot to another camper.

If you are looking to reschedule a camp week into a different camp week and we are able to reschedule you, please note there is a $75 rescheduling fee per person. No refunds.

If you signed up for a Single Day Camp, and make a request business days in advance to make a change to your booking and we can reschedule you, there is a rescheduling fee of $75 per DAY.

The rescheduling of a camp dates will only be offered in the current season camp you are enrolled in, for example Holiday Camp rescheduling in Winter cannot be offered in Summer Camps, etc.

If you decide to pull out of your enrolled camp week or any single date, we must receive at least business days notice otherwise you will NOT be entitled to any rescheduling or credit. We do not offer refunds.

Please keep in mind, rescheduling camp dates is NOT GUARANTEED and is at the school's discretion. It is based entirely on availability on upcoming camp dates.

We do NOT accept verbal notification or last-minute personal texts or phone calls to members of staff, for example. If you tell a teacher you are not attending this will not serve as a notification. You must email us in writing your request at least one week in advance.

If a camp is canceled due to situations beyond our control, for example, severe restrictions by the government or further lockdowns, we will not be issuing any refunds for any bookings, instead, you will be offered the option of transferring your camp to an ONLINE activity.

Please email us at [email protected]

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
