Sarah Enid Hagey

Sarah Enid Hagey is an artist and filmmaker living and working in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA in 2004 from the San Francisco Art Institute where she studied experimental film under George Kuchar, Ernie Gehr, and Craig Baldwin. She completed her MFA in 2012 in Hunter College's Integrated Media Art Program in New York City. Sarah’s work creates a strange marriage between fiction and non-fiction, science and mythology, and has spanned topics ranging from female agency in the horror film genre, classic cinema parody, urban legend, and social anxiety. She received the San Francisco Bay Guardian Goldie Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker and was recently awarded a student grant from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. Her work has screened at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Pacific Film Archive, Artists Television Access, Silver Lake Film Festival, Rooftop Films, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Her most recent work focuses the enigmatic life of plants and the people who love them.
