Cate Cortesi

Teaches at Primary Stages ESPA

A New York-based screenwriter and playwright, she has written features for New Line, Parti Productions, Heroes and Villains Entertainment, and Cavalier Films. LAZARUS, a film she wrote and directed, has screened at festivals across the United States. Kate’s plays include Great Kills, A Patron of the Arts, Love and Happiness, The Color Wheel, and Telephone. She has been honored as the 2014 Princess Grace Playwriting Fellow and with Columbia University’s Karen Brownstein Award. Her plays have been produced/developed by terraNOVA Collective, The Lark, New Dramatists, Premiere Stages, and The Underbelly in Edinburgh, and broadcast as a radio play throughout the Philadelphia area. Current projects include September Bride with composer Roger Ames, Everything Feels Good about Hillary’s run for president through the eyes of two high school girls, and a web series Is Edward Snowden Single? Kate is the 2014 Princess Grace Playwriting Fellow and a one-year resident at New Dramatists. www.katecortesi.com
