Katie Hammond

Teaches at Improv Asylum

Katie Hammond has been a professional improvisor for nearly 15 years, performing internationally as well as across the United States. Starting her career and training in Chicago, she studied and performed at The Second City, The iO Theatre, The Playground Theatre and the Annoyance Theatre.  From Chicago, Katie relocated to Orlando, FL, where she improvised full-time at Walt Disney World and was in the ensemble for SAK Comedy Lab. In New York City, Katie studied and performed on house teams at The Magnet Theatre and The People’s Improv Theatre. She currently tours the country with two professional Musical Improv companies, Broadway’s Next Hit Musical and This Is Your Life; The Musical, and is a company member of The Story Pirates.

Katie started teaching in Orlando, and quickly developed a reputation for her energetic and inclusive teaching style.  As well as performance, Katie is a certified Human Resources Generalist, who specializes in People Operations. She works as a consulting HR Manager start-up companies. She values the interpersonal relationships above all and focuses her training on encouraging active listening and hands on interaction. She believes that culture, communication and community are the paramount building blocks for a successful working environment.

Away from the improv stage, Katie is a proud member of Actors Equity, a working commercial actor and an award winning lyricist. She is mom to a small rescue dog and is a very slow runner.
