Richard Powers is the author of 12 novels. He is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship and the National Book Award, and has been a Pulitzer Prize and four-time National Book Critics Circle Award finalist. Powers lives in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Peter Wohllenben is a German forester and best-selling author of The Hidden Life of Trees.

Bill Logan, a certified arborist and expert in tree assessment, is an award-winning writer about trees, gardens, and natural history. Among his publications is Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth. He has taught at UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara.
