Jay Sterrenberg

Jay Arthur Sterrenberg is a New York based filmmaker, editor and educator with over a dozen years experience whose work has appeared on HBO, Arte, ESPN and PBS. His editing credits include the Sundance documentary Narco Cultura (coming to theaters summer of 2013), the Academy Award nominated DCTV produced documentary Redemption (HBO), Emmy Nominated Section 60: Arlington National Cemetery (HBO), as well as Wartorn 1861-2010, (HBO) an in-depth look at Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the American Military which had it's world premiere at the Pentagon. He served as a consulting editor for Emmy Nominated Good Fortune (POV), and Slamdance Grand Jury winner Welcome to Pine Hill (Oscilloscope). Jay is a co-founder of the Meerkat Media Collective, an award winning production cooperative who prioritize shared authorship and skillsharing within their creative process. He edited, co-shot and co-directed the collectives first feature length documentary Stages which won Best Documentary and the Audience Award when it premiered at the HBO New York International Latino Film Festival. He's also co-directing, producing and editing their upcoming feature documentary Brasslands which has been featured as a work-in-progress by Rooftop Films, IFP's Spotlight on Documentaries and the Paley Center Doc Fest. In addition to his work in production and post, Jay teaches filmmaking workshops for DCTV, is an active member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective and is head of acquisitions for the filmmaker owned and run distribution cooperative New Day Films.
