Teaches at New York Yoga

Danielle Lydia Sheather, RYT 200hr, first found yoga through dance as a means of cultivating calmness in an ever hectic profession. After a 13 year cereer as a professional dancer, touring the world, she has come home again and discovered the yogic way of life. She has always been drawn to movement having danced from the age of 3. Danielle began her dancing career at Maxine's School of Dance and the National Ballet of Canada. At 16, she booked her first professional gig with Legends in Concert. Later, she attended SUNY Buffalo where she received a BFA in Dance, a BA in Psychology and danced and choreographed for various dance companies inclduding Zodiaque Dance Company, Studiowerks, Young Choreographers Showcase and Dancer's Workshop. She also performed at Artpark in Lewiston NY. Professionally, she has studied with ABT II, Limon, Doug Varone, Peridance, Broadway Dance Center, Steps and performed with several NYC based dance companies including Rebecca Keyser Houck, and NYC corporate events including New York Fashion Week, Sesame Street Live, and Holland America Line. She has also taught and choreographed throughout the US and Canada. After finishing her last dance contract, Danielle graduated from Sonic Yoga's 200hr teacher training program. Not only has her list of teachers been extensive, she has also studied many different styles of yoga and has thus found her unique style of teaching hatha and vinyasa yoga. Her teaching philosophy is that in order to create a flow in one's practice, on must first have an innate understanding of asana and pranayama to elicit the flow of prana. She also believes that it is a teacher's responsibility to continue to practice yoga in order to grow, understand, and honor one's commitment to enlightenment.
