Priya Pandya

Teaches at Doonya

Priya is Co-Founder and Co-Creator of the Doonya Program. She has been teaching since 2005. Flexibility, fluidity and grace are key influences that Priya brings to the development of the Doonya Curriculum.

Priya has been applauded by Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan on the Oprah Winfrey Show and has also appeared on the Today Show and the CBS Early Show. Her passion is bringing Doonya to all corners of the world from Uganda to India to Europe and most of the time her hometown, NYC!

Folk, semi-classical and yoga-inspired Indian dance are Priya’s forte. Growing up in a family of dancers, Priya began her performance career in Indian folk dance at age three. She spent her early summers studying folk and classical dance in India. She continued to hone her skills through 15 years of formal training in Bharatanatyam.

Her early exposure to fitness of all kinds from yoga, gymnastics to soccer and lacrosse, make Priya both an athlete and an artist. Priya is also a certified yoga teacher in an Iyengar/Ashtanga blend method. Bringing Indian-inspired arts to the forefront of local and global communities has been a life-long mission for Priya.

As a teenager, she was recognized by the Mayor of Philadelphia for her positive impact and raising cultural awareness in the City of Philadelphia. She received her B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business. She draws inspiration from world cultures specifically through international development and management consulting experience in countries including India, Pakistan, Uganda, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Niger.
