Christine Perea

Christine Perea specializes in New Music and has performed extensively in NYC both as a soloist and a member of various contemporary ensembles including the Lost Dog New Music Ensemble of which she is a founding member. Ms. Perea frequently collaborates with composers and has performed numerous New York premiers in addition to world premiers in Seoul, Korea and Pisa, Italy. Ms. Perea has also performed with the Greenwich Village Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and the Chicago Classical Symphony Orchestra. Christine holds degrees from DePaul University in Chicago (Bachelor's of Music Performance) and NYU (Master's of Music Performance and doctoral studies--Ph.D., ABD). Christine’s teachers have included Robert Dick, Keith Underwood, Linda Chesis, Mary Stolper, Clem Barone, and Shaul Ben-Meir. While her degrees have focused on flute performance, she is a dedicated and passionate teacher who strives to develop each student’s unique musical expression by customizing lessons according to their age, ability, and musical tastes. Many of her students have gone on to study at the Juilliard Map program as well as at performing arts schools across the city.
