Gianluca Giarrizzo

Teaches at New York Academy of Art

Gianluca Giarrizzo is a figurative sculptor and draughtsman living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his BA from Lewis and Clark College where he studied Sculpture and Philosophy, and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art in Sculpture and Anatomy. Giarrizzo has received various awards and residencies including the New York Academy of Art and ABC Stone’s Merit Award Scholarship for a Stone Carving Residency in Carrara, Italy, a second Stone Carving residency through the Bill and Sharon Jacob Award for Outstanding Ability in Sculpture (Carrara, Italy), a residency at the Whitney Western Art Museum as a Gallery Demonstrator in Cody, Wyoming, and the Sculpture Scholar Award by the New York Academy of Art. He has actively taught drawing and sculpture and lectured at various institutions including The East Harlem School (New York), Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia), Josephy Center for Arts and Culture (Oregon), The Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museum (Cody), and through the Continuing Education Program at the New York Academy of Art. Giarrizzo has sculpture and drawings in private collections across the U.S. and has been exhibited in shows and auctions nationally.
