Eddie Bernard

Teaches at UrbanGlass

From an early age Eddie Bernard enjoyed working with his hands and figuring out how things are put together.  In 1988, at the age of 15, he began working stained glass with a local craftsman.  He was introduced to hot glass two years later in New Orleans, LA. This early interest in glass led Eddie to the School of American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology to study glass art.  While there he had the opportunity to build his first furnace, and a love affair with building equipment was born.  After earning a BFA in 1996, Eddie moved back to Louisiana and founded Wet Dog Glass, LLC, now the preeminent glass blowing equipment manufacturer in the United States.  The company moved its operations to Star, NC in 2008.

Eddie has taught hot glass classes at Corning, Haystack Mountain School of Craft, Penland School of Craft, Pilchuck Glass School, and The Glass Furnace in Istanbul among other places. He has taught equipment building workshops at Penland School of Craft, Southern Illinois University, Indianapolis Art Center, Temple University, and University of Louisville, KY.  He has been recognized for his expertise in equipment building, and has lectured and moderated panels at several Glass Arts Society Conferences. Eddie has served on the Board of Directors for the Glass Art Society and New Orleans Creative Glass Institute, and currently serves on the boards of STARworks Center for Creative Enterprise and Craft Emergency Relief Fund.
