Aisha Russell

Teaches at Doonya

A D.C. native-turned-recent resident of NYC, Aisha's been obsessed with Doonya from its early stages. You may remember her from such roles as: "DC Studio Assistant" and "NYC Studio Assistant." While her interest in Bollywood music and movies developed in her high school days, it wasn't until college that her love for dance blossomed.

Enter Doonya in late 2007, where she found a welcoming haven to learn all the basics to release her inner Bolly star, instead of the simple wax-on/wax-off choreo she created at home.

Aisha has taken classes in a variety of dance styles including Latin, Afro-Caribbean, bellydance, and the classical Indian style Kuchipudi. While she is inspired by all of these dance styles, Aisha finds the greatest joy in Bollywood dance and has her six years at Doonya to thank for honing her skills.

Outside of dance classes, Aisha most enjoys vinyasa yoga and healthy cooking.

If she had to be stuck in a moment forever, it would definitely be Bollywood dancing with all of her friends. She looks forward to sharing this obsession with future students, hoping to motivate them to find their own Bolly bliss whenever they can.
