Sunday Oct 27th, 11am - 5pm
The Arm is a public access letterpress studio, teaching facility commercial print shop in the Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This is a fantastic intro class to letterpress. We were able to try various machines and have time to practice. Dan was an awesome teacher. I definitely would recommend the class!
Dan was absolutely wonderful! I can't wait to get back into the studio with some personal projects :)
Dan and this class are great! The class size of 7 was a perfect size, and the only thing that I wish was different is that I prepared something like a quote / idea ahead of time so that I could focus more on the layout and process.
Dan was extremely patient and guided us through using the Vandercook press. I felt pretty confident that I could use it when I book time at the press in the future. The class did end an hour and a half earlier, so it was 4.5 hours instead of the 6 that I paid for. Would have loved to have had different projects to work on to fill up the class time.
Wonderful class! Dan is super knowledgeable and answered so many questions. Came home with a poster ready to frame!
Great class, Dan (the owner) knew what he was talking about and had a lot of knowledge. Wished we had more time to focus on specific questions and wish the class was a bit smaller to allow for more one - on - one time with Dan. Will be back tho to keep learning and trying!
I absolutely loved being in this studio! It was a great overview course of Letterpress and I'm excited that after this course we're allowed to book studio time on the presses. Dan was great about sharing resources and tips for when we come back to work on our own projects. Great way to spend a Sunday in Williamsburg!
Enjoyed the class a lot, can't wait to schedule time with the studio and go back to do my own letterpress print.
Great way to spend a Sunday. Dan is extremely knowledgeable and you get to learn very hands on
Dan and Hartwick were both so knowledgable and enthusiastic about printing. (And Henry the Dalmatian is the best shop superviser!) They were patient with questions and in general made the subject seem as straightforward as possible. The class included lots of hands on time with the type collections and the presses, and by the time class was over, the letterpress process was much less intimidating to me. Can't wait to start booking some time on one of their Vandercooks!
