Data Science with Python examines the process of data analysis using code, and is a prerequisite for any in-depth understanding of machine learning. In this course, we will learn the fundamental tools and structures that engineers at Google and other tech giants use to make sense of big data. Students will practice using code to answer questions and solve problems using real data from their communities, and integrate their findings into final projects to showcase their results.

Bash + Git
To become a developer, you need the right tools. Students will learn the crucial tools for collaboration and efficient coding by controlling their computers through the command line and use Git and Github for version control.
Advanced Python
Students will build on their Python experience by mastering nested data structures, object orientation, and interactions between multiple Python objects.
Queries & HTTP
In order to interact with data dynamically, students must think critically about where the data is coming from and how it gets from one application to another. Students will learn about GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE methods that conform to web standards.
Python REST API & JSON
Most data analysis is done in Python, but most data is stored in language-agnostic formats. Students will master the art of thinking about how data is handled differently in Python, in JavaScript, and in SQL.
Statistics
Measures like variability, standard deviation, mean, and volatility are profoundly useful metrics to understand information in a dataset. Students will develop a deep understanding of the significance and utility of these terms.
Data Analysis
A dataset is only as good as the questions you ask to examine it. Students will learn to ask questions that, when answered, can provide powerful conclusions about those datasets.
Data Visualization
Data analysis is ultimately intended to guide decisions and foster discussion or debate. Students will learn to present their findings in a visually striking way, selecting the format that best supports the conclusions they have drawn.
Communication of Data
Data analysis is a powerful tool to examine real issues relevant to communities one cares about. Students will engage with data relevant to communities they care about and conscientiously communicate their findings.
Debugging
Part of being a great developer is learning to find and fix "bugs". Throughout the course, we introduce students to debugging best practices in Python, specifically when used with large datasets.
