What you'll learn in this lightroom class:

In this specialized workshop and lab, learn professional digital darkroom techniques that will take your photography post-production skills to the next level! Led by 2 Adobe Certified Lightroom Experts, classes are small for personal attention, include coffee & pastries, a catered lunch & afternoon snacks in a comfortable, social setting.

In the morning workshop, you will learn how to make Lightroom behave like a professionally trained darkroom printer: enhancing and managing color, adjusting contrast, saturation and luminance and using local adjustments with advanced masking techniques. In addition to gaining some serious “darkroom” developing skills, you’ll learn how to make use of Lightroom’s Lens Profile corrections and technical Transform tools that compensate for lens shortcomings and perspective distortions that occur even with the most expensive of cameras and lenses.

In the afternoon lab session, you’ll have a supervised, hands-on opportunity to apply the darkroom skills you learned in the morning. These advanced developing techniques and corrections are sure to take your best photographs from good to exceptional.

We'll provide a complimentary 32GB USB flash drive with practice work files and PDF documentation. Morning coffee and muffins, a catered lunch, and a late afternoon pick-me-up snack are also included. 

After completing the lab, attendees will be entitled to a free half hour online consultation.

Prerequisites 

For this workshop and lab, please bring the following:
  • Wi-Fi enabled laptop (Mac or PC) with 25GB of free hard drive space, at least one working USB port
  • Three-button external mouse (optional - loaners will be available if you don’t have one)
  • The most recent version of Lightroom installed prior to course start (either Creative Cloud or version 6.0+)
  • Your current Lightroom Catalog(s) that has been backed up 
And you should have:
  • Working familiarity with your computer (know how to make a new folder, how to search for a file, you know the basics etc.)
  • Working familiarity with Lightroom
Please arrive 30 min early to get set up.
