Find new paths into writing and surprise yourself with where it is possible to go. Poetry Heat is generative. You will write a poem every week and connect to language and experience in unexpected ways. We will do this through quietly playful exercises, often involving objects, artwork, or idiosyncratic texts, to evoke links to your own strongly charged material and to the vital, unconscious sources of your writing. Experiments with elements of craft, such as line, rhythm, and image, will be part of the mix to build your understanding of form.
This is a vibrant, supportive community of writers in which your writing can deepen, flourish, and grow. The class includes a one-hour private conference with the instructor. Open and welcoming to beginners and experienced writers.
