What you'll learn in this public speaking class:

Remember how we said our classes are like going to the gym for your brain? In this 3-week class, we’ll practice what we preach, focusing in on flexing the skills that make us a bigger, faster and stronger us.

Improv is all about communication, and we understand the importance of creating a safe space to work listening skills, focus, public speaking, presence, flexibility, and confidence. We’ll zoom in on the idea of building a team, remaining present and getting rid of agenda-orientated thinking.

Since each class is different, we build our base around you. From the first class to the last, we’re pivoting for your expectations. Class one will introduce you to improv for professionals, tying what we do into your real world and everyday life. Class two will challenge you – let’s shake things up a bit and focus in on the positive risk taking in improv! Class three will give you something to think about – we did it, now what? You’ll leave with a greater understanding of yourself, a stronger communication style and possibly a stomachache from laughing so much. This class can be repeated – you’ll meet new friends and have a different focus each time!

While we understand that life happens, we ask that you attend each session in a multi-week session, unless extreme life circumstances mean that you absolutely must make up a date during a future session. Our multi-week sessions are structured to allow the class participants to grow together, and inconsistent attendance and drop-ins make the awesome bonding that happens a little harder!

Question from Annabel P.
Hello, I am taking this class. But I wonder if there is a detailed outline like a syllabus available?
Answer from Jen O. Verified Educator
Every class is different depending on the needs of the students. For the first week, we follow the same outline: Getting to know each other and hearing that "why", checking in on where skillsets live in interactive activities and reflection, and skill-building partner and group activities in areas like responding vs reaction, active listening, taking initiative and being on the spot.
Question from Anonymous
is this class good for those that are uncomfortable with public speaking and how to get that confidence and body language?
Answer from Jen O. Verified Educator
Yes! Many of our students take the class to be more confident, authentic and the best version of themselves! Improv is all about listening and responding, and when you're speaking, you need to not only get your information across, you need to attend to your audience.
Question from Anonymous
I will like to know if I can join the class, I am from Nigeria, presently in New York on my annual leave. I will love to attend
