What you'll learn in this cinematography class:

This workshop is designed for the beginner filmmaker or small business looking to enhance the quality of videos used online or for marketing purposes. Along with basic of the tools that are used to create visual styles that support the subject of the project.

The workshop will cover selecting your shooting space, how to light the subject to enhance the topic, setting up the camera, and adjusting thoughout their the interview for the edit. After discussions and demonstrations students will work, hands-on,on creating their own set ups during the class time.

Discussion topics will include how to build your own lighting package, creative graffing techniques, using available light sources, and where to put lights to get the best poissible look.

Discussion topics will cover:
  • Breakdown of different types of light
  • Hard Light / Soft Light / Bounced Light
  • Three point lighting
  • Using practical sources
  • Color
  • Temperature / Gels / Diffusions
  • Lighting for depth / Separation
  • Grip Equipment
  • Electricity, Breakers, and fuses

  • Set / Location Safety
Notes:
Seats will be limited for this workshop.

No Experience necessary to participate in the Lighting Workshop. No additional expenses, beyond tuition, will be required. During our production related sessions no open shoes, sandals, flip flops should be worn to protect participants from injury. To participate in technical workshops requiring the use of electricity and or heavy equipment, students will be asked to sign a waiver releasing the IFI and the location from any and all liability claims due to injury caused by using facilities and equipment. Safety is our priority when on set.

All Courses provided by The International Film Institute of New York require minimum enrollment to be conducted. In the event that minimum enrollment is not achieved, full refund of deposit and, any additional tuition paid will be refunded 100%.

The school will notify participants 7 days prior to the start of the session with details regarding course schedule and confirmation.

Deposits will not be refunded if cancellation occurs less than 14 days prior to the start of a workshop. No refunds will be made once the workshop has begun.
