It was a great time to be out on the water, as evening came around and the atmosphere fell into a calmer state. The sailing instructor knew his stuff and gave each of the five of us a chance to be the captain. I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested in sailing on the Hudson. It's a challenging environment because of the variety of experiences you'd have there sailing small craft. Sailing is magic. It really takes you into a new dimension. And it's such a natural business: you, the water, the wind, and your boat.

Thoroughly enjoyed my morning on the water! The captain was experienced, friendly and informative. Liked the format of a little theory beforehand and then swiftly onto the boat where everyone rotated roles - getting a chance to steer, act as lookout, shift the sails etc. Attendees of different skill levels had the chance to learn a thing or two about sailing a sloop on the Hudson river.

Lots of fun and instructive. Instructor was pro active in providing information, asking if there were questions, etc. He asked if we wanted to steer, tighten, and secure the roping (forgotten the terms). We were all beginners, so maybe this was typical, but I wished I had been able to do more to physically assist throughout the sail. Still it was very pleasant

Best class for a sunny summer day! The instructor was very knowledgeable and was great at getting a grasp of group dynamics and helping us get the most out of our experience. My group had students at different levels including some Hudson River Community Sailing members and while I was the only 100% newbie to sailing I felt that I was a contributing member of the crew without feeling pushed to do more than I was willing and able to do. It was amazing, highly recommend it!
