Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this childbirth class:

This course consists of two sessions taught either in consequtive sessions on weekends or over 2 weeknight days:

Session 1: Childbirth Essentials

Our comprehensive childbirth education class is designed to equip you with the knowledge and confidence you need to take control of your upcoming birth journey. Knowledge is power! In this engaging and intimate setting, you will learn essential knowledge and skills to build your confidence and feel as prepared for labor and birth as possible, to help you have a safe, healthy birth in line with your ideals. With the most current information and research-backed practices, you'll leave ready to make the best decisions for yourself during labor. Our class incorporates a dynamic blend of interactive lectures, Q/A with expert instructor, and practical demonstrations to enhance your learning experience. You'll also connect with and learn from other expectant parents in your community.

There is no one right way to labor. We stand by the philosophy that birth is a normal process and hope to inspire confidence in everyone we teach by sharing what possible things to expect, helping you develop the skills to move through your labor and leaving you feeling prepared to work through whatever your journey turns out to be. It is our goal to educate you about the full spectrum of options for birth, and then to support you unconditionally.

Taught by experts who have assisted 20,000+ expectant parents through a wide range of birth choices and experiences.

Session 2: Practicing Techniques

Labor and birth demand both physical and mental preparation and requires more than just information alone. As you anticipate your upcoming birth, it's crucial to equip yourself with a diverse range of comfort measures and coping techniques. The tools and techniques you will learn and practice in our class will form your labor toolbox, ensuring that you and your support team are well-prepared to reduce your perception of pain, decrease stress and anxiety, and increase your comfort during childbirth, while also potentially shortening your labor and increasing the likelihood of a vaginal birth. By learning and practicing effective labor positions, strategies to promote labor progress, breathing techniques, guided visualizations and more, you'll enable your body and mind to rise to the challenge of birthing your baby. You'll discover how to minimize discomfort and approach labor with confidence, equipped with the transformative power of pain coping skills.

Refund Policy

The school highly recommend that students schedule any prenatal classes or workshops to end by the time they are 36 weeks pregnant. If they schedule class for after they begin their 36th week, they run the risk of having their baby and missing their class without a refund. In the event that they go into labor before 36 weeks, they may apply 90% of the class cost to another class (i.e.: CPR) or service (i.e.: postpartum doula care).

In the special circumstances of a mother-to-be being placed on bed rest or delivering before 36 weeks before the beginning of a class series, they may apply 90% of the class fee to another class or service at Birth Day Presence. If bed rest or delivery happens while they are in the middle of a series (and they would have completed their classes before they began their 36th week), they may apply the fees from the unused portion of the class toward another class or service at Birth Day Presence.

We are not responsible for providing make-ups or issuing any credit for classes missed as a result of scheduling conflicts, vacations, illness, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond our control.

Cancellation Policy

If students cancel their class:

  • 31 plus business days in advance, they will receive 90% refund.
  • 16-31 business days in advance, they will receive 50% refund.
  • 15 business days or less in advance, there are no refunds.

Rescheduling Policy

If students need to reschedule a class:

  • 16+ business days in advance, no fee, as long as there's availability.
  • 15 business days or less in advance, $35 rescheduling fee, as long as there's availability.

In the event that they need to miss a one-time class due to medical absence, they may transfer into a class with available space with a doctor's note.

Class Cancellation or Adjustment by Birth Day Presence

The school reserves the right to alter class times due to low enrollment. Every effort will be made to work with students' schedules to ensure that the student receives the instruction she signed up for. If the school cannot place students in another class or schedule a private session comparable to what they signed up for, a full refund will be given.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
