This 3-part Olio workshop will introduce us to formal painting skills while emphasizing the therapeutic nature of the material. During these three sessions, we will explore the technical aspects of watercolor painting - focusing on different elements over each week: light, color, and composition. We’ll come to understand that “learning how to paint ''in the traditional sense can intersect with the therapeutic and mindful use of watercolor painting.
We’ll explore questions like: How can painting be used as a tool for self-expression, and connecting with one's emotions and intuition? And how can this free-form self-expression also provide a framework for learning a new skill set where you can walk away with something you feel proud of? The “Art as Therapy” framework will be introduced and carried throughout each class.
