High Intermediate Spanish

Upon finishing our Early Intermediate Spanish Class, you should be at our 80% goal.  That means that you should be fluent in 80% of common conversation situations.  You will have mastery over the common prepositions that add meaning to your sentences.
 
At this point, your ear will have gone through very specialized training, and you should be able to reply during Spanish conversations with very little thought — another way of saying this is: you will not have to translate Spanish to English in your head.  It will be natural to you.
 
Your grammar will be at the level in which you will know all of the common grammar used in Spanish.  You will get extensive practice using the future tense, imperfect tense, and subjunctive tense during this Spanish course.   This complements your now flawless ability in the present and past tenses, so that may speak all of the Spanish tenses that are used daily.  We instruct our students to ignore the more complex and less common tenses until they have mastered these common ones. These ignored tenses include: past perfect, future progressive, future perfect, etc. This is most likely contradictory to what you have been taught in college, where there is high focus on learning all the aspects of grammar and attaining a high vocabulary before concentrating on conversation.
 
Like all of our other courses, vocabulary comes naturally to all of our classes.  The vocabulary is built into our classes so that your are learning new vocabulary while improving your grammar.  Or similarly, you are learning new vocabulary while you are improving your listening ability.
 
If you have enough time to study before going abroad to a Spanish-speaking country, we recommend that you get to this level.  If you’re at this level, your learning experience in a Spanish-speaking country will be greatly enhanced, and you will naturally improve toward 100% fluency without having to actively study Spanish.
