Description
What you'll learn in this french class:
In this fun and innovative conversation class for advanced speakers, students watch French-language movies at home (mostly on Netflix) and we discuss them in class. The movies will be a mix of classic and contemporary (and different from the ones viewed in previous sessions).
Watching original-language movies is a great way to build your understanding and speaking of colloquial French. Every week, we'll talk about the plots and the cultural context, and the instructor will align this discussion with the review of grammar, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions.
This class is conducted entirely in French, and is intended for students who know the grammar pretty well and can speak and understand at a fairly high level, even if they make some mistakes.
Note: Students are responsible for viewing the films on their own before class. All the films are available through Netflix, Amazon or Hulu streaming. Subscribing to these online services is easy and inexpensive.
Important:
THIS IS AN IN-PERSON CLASS.
- All students must be fully vaccinated AND BOOSTED and provide proof before their first lesson.
- Class size has been reduced to 10 students maximum.
- Face masks are not required.
- Our classroom is equipped with an air purifier with HEPA filter, hand sanitizer, and disinfected wipes.
Refund Policy
If you wish to cancel your registration, you must email us at [email protected] at least seven days before the start date of your class to receive a refund. If you wish to postpone your registration to a later session, you must contact us at least three days before the start date of your class to receive a credit toward a future session (good for one year).

The first session is wasted since there is no movie to discuss. You could send out an e-mail the weekend or the Monday before class begins with the name and source of the movie that is going to be discussed during the first class. If someone enrolls after the e-mail so goes out, you could follow up the acknowledgement of the registration with the same info.
It would be helpful if the instructor did more correction of the participants spoken French and if she took that opportulnity to talk about interesting grammar or points of vocabulary when someone makes an error.
