What you'll learn in this kids cooking camp class:

A week-long exploration of food for kids 11 and up. All classes are hands-on and include a full sit-down lunch at the end of each class. (Please alert us ahead of time if there are any food allergies).

Day 1: Northern Italian
  • Fresh Ricotta Gnocchi with Sage Browned Butter
  • Creamy Risotto with Lemon and Parmigiano-Reggiano
  • Handmade Fettuccine with Fresh Basil Pesto
  • Kale Salad with Garlicky Breadcrumbs
  • Macerated Berries with Zabaglione
Day 2: Asian
  • Vietnamese Summer Rolls with Fresh Mango and Chicken / Nouc Cham Dipping Sauce
  • Potsticker Dumplings / Black Vinegar Dipping Sauce
  • Beef Stirfry with Thai Basil, Pineapple, Red Peppers, and Snap Peas
  • Coconut Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango
Day 3: Mexican 
  • Homemade Corn Tortillas
  • Fresh Guacamole
  • Soft Tacos with Two Fillings: Squash-Mushroom-Poblano & Spice-Rubbed Skirt Steak
  • Creamy Lime Coleslaw
  • Mexican Chocolate Torte
Day 4: Comfort Foods
  • Lemon Chicken Piccata
  • Mashed Potatoes with Roasted Garlic & Rosemary
  • Caesar Salad
  • Individual Apple or Peach Pies (seasonal)
Day 5: "Chopped" Challenge

Shopping trip! The group will venture out for a short  expedition to the food markets dotting Chinatown and Little Italy (all within a block of our school) to shop for ingredients to create a meal of their own making. Students will be divided into groups of two and, with the chef's guidance, create a meal from scratch using the ingredients they purchase (and our extensive pantry) and the techniques they've learned over the week of cooking together.

School Notes:
You’ll receive a complete recipe packet and enjoy a full sit-down meal at the end of class with your classmates. Our classes are BYOB, and you are welcome to bring a bottle to share at the sit-down meal.

Our classes are hands-on, coupled with demonstration-style teaching. Everyone is situated at their own cutting board/chef’s knife station around a large wooden worktable that accommodates the whole class (10 people max). We work together as a group, with the chef at the head of the table.

We focus on knife skills, preparing ingredients for cooking, and we strive to find every opportunity to offer you a hands-on experience at the stove and at your station, all within the spacial parameters of a single stove/family-style kitchen. We ask for volunteers to assist in all cooking.

We have a firm 48-hour cancellation policy to ensure that we have enough time to re-fill your seat with another student. For cancellations prior to the 48-hour mark, we are happy to offer credit for a future class.

While it is not in our nature to say no, we are not able to offer credit for last-minute illnesses or work-related conflicts. However, you are always welcome to send someone in your place, because we understand these things do happen.
