Beads are one of the oldest forms of glass art, used in many cultures throughout history for currency and adornment.
Students will create their own wearable glass beads through the ancient art of flameworking. Working with table torches, students will learn how to safely control a flame and melt colorful glass rods into stunning beads and small sculptures.
Demonstrations will explore different decorative motifs (dots, lines, squiggles!), textures, and forms, giving students the tools to string these techniques together into whatever they imagine.
No experience necessary. Open to all rising and current middle school students.
