Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this tai chi class:

Designed for all fitness levels, this class helps ease stress by coordinating deep, easy breathing with slow, rhythmic movements. Practicing Tai Chi Ch’uan helps connect the mind to the body and the body to the breath. As the mind relaxes, the body relaxes and one flows from one posture to the next.

The Tai Chi Ch’uan practiced is Grandmaster William C.C. Chen’s “60 Movements”, a Yang style short form.

People ask what is Tai Chi Ch’uan. My answer is: Tai Chi Ch’uan is an internal form of a Chinese martial art. It has great health benefits, even without the martial aspects. Practice improves balance, coordination and body alignment. The biggest benefit is how you can integrate your practice into your everyday life.

Question from Gloria S.
Has anyone taken tai chi classes here? I never done tai chi and wondering if this would be a good place to start.
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Gloria! Tai Chi will be a great follow up to your somatic therapy since it's light on the body and powerful for your energy. I doubt if there will be any issues with Tai Chi as a beginner. When you come in, speak to the instructor Kan. He's been doing Tai Chi for years.
