Go behind the scenes with Joe Coffee’s roasting team at our very own roasting facility and QC lab in Long Island City! Participants will learn the basics of the roasting process through a comparative roasting demonstration, examining various roast profiles of a single coffee to explore the variables that affect flavor. By tasting the coffees side by side, participants get a closer look at how roasting can highlight a coffee’s sweetness and complexity.
The class will include an overview of the cupping process, which is the industry standard method of tasting and evaluating coffee. In addition, this class also includes a tour of the roastery and a chance to explore each step of the production process.
Explorations in Roasting is a two and a half hour class. All materials are included in the price, and students will be able to take home coffee that is roasted during the class. No experience necessary.
