What you'll learn in this vegetarian cooking class:

Whether you're fully vegan or just tipping your toe in the water, this live virtual cooking class with Chef Megan will help you learn the ropes of plant-based cooking. She will show you how to prepare two vegan dishes that are so tasty, you definitely won't miss the meat, dairy or eggs. Start off with a healthy, homemade vegetable burger made with sweet potatoes and beans. Chef Megan will also teach you how to make spicy tacos filled with meaty pulled jackfruit and a chipotle adobo sauce as your final dish.

Menu

  • Plant-Based Veggie Burger with sweet potatoes, millet and great northern beans
  • Spicy Jackfruit Street Tacos with sweet onion, and chipotle peppers in adobo sauce

Every class is fully interactive.

Chef demonstrates each step and assists you as you perform each step.

Ingredients

  • Uncooked millet
  • Sweet potato
  • Filtered water
  • Cooked great northern beans
  • Raw pumpkin or sunflower seeds
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Spike! or all-purpose seasoning
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Cumin
  • Sea salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Brioche hamburger buns
  • Top burgers with: Tomatoes, lettuce, mustard, mayonnaise or avocado
  • Can of green jackfruit in water
  • Avocado oil
  • Sweet onion
  • Garlic cloves
  • Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • Serve tacos with: Small corn or flour tortillas, sliced avocado, shredded purple cabbage, shredded carrots, and limes

Kitchen Equipment

  • 2 Cutting boards
  • Chef's knife
  • 10 or 12-inch sauté pan
  • 2 Forks
  • 2 Spatulas
  • Vegetable peeler
  • 2 ½-quart pot with lid
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Potato masher or fork
  • Sauté pan or baking sheet

Recipes: Recipes are sent in your booking confirmation.

Ingredients:  Ingredients can be adapted for dietary restrictions or lack of availability.

Technology: Connect with the chef using Zoom on your computer, tablet or mobile device.

Class Participation: Chime in with questions through audio or chat. Use of video is optional.


Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
