Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this mexican cooking class:

A classic Mexican menu that will be useful over and over again. The guacamole alone is a great entertaining staple, it stands out from anything store-bought and says “Welcome!” to your friends and guests. You’ll make a classic salsa verde with tomatillos which you’ll mix with tasty shredded chicken. The whole enchilada is topped with a tangy red sauce. This versatile Mexican menu is one of our favorites.

Learn to cook the following:

  • Chef Paul’s killer guacamole
  • Green salsa and chicken enchiladas
  • Drunken beans (beans cooked with poblanos, tomatoes, beer, and onions) Yellow rice with tomatoes and onions
  • Spicy Mexican chocolate cake and homemade vanilla ice cream

Students below 18 years old should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

I didn’t feel like I learned much because the courses were divided amongst the class and a lot of the work was pre done for us. It felt pretty beginner. Food was great, but didn’t learn much.

This was a small, intimate class, with lots of attention to each individual. The dinner is broken up into several teams to complete the different recipes, but there is instruction of each is held to the audience of the entire group. The instructor was VERY knowledgeable. I highly recommend this class specifically because the food was delicious (especially the homemade ice cream).

The class was very expensive for the food supplied and prepared. I also thought in general that the food was just okay. It was a nice experience and the staff was fine, but I was expecting a more professional, gourmet experience.

Miette

Miette means, "little crumb" in French. This name was chosen while giving cooking classes at the restaurant Tartine in the West Village. Since Tartine means "slice of bread" we thought it an appropriate name for the school!
