What you'll learn in this italian cooking class:

From fritto misto to veal with prosciutto, Italy offers a seemingly endless selection of dishes that celebrate land and water. The country's thousands of miles of coastline, lakes and rivers, prized cow breeds and world-class salumi tradition result in meat- and seafood-centric dishes that can be rustic, sophisticated and anything in between.

In this class, you will cover specialties from all corners of Italy, making:
  • Fritto misto (assortment of fried fish and seafood)
  • Veal saltimbocca
  • Asparagus Parmesan Risotto
  • Grilled Treviso radicchio
  • Chocolate and cherry biscotti
An Aperol spritz will awaken your appetite.

We serve wine in our classes. It is against our policy for guests to bring in any type of alcoholic beverages.
School Notes:
Please note that a valid ID is required for entry into ICE's building.

Upon arrival to 225 Liberty Street, proceed to the security desk on the 2nd floor located next to Hudson Eats to check in.

If this is your first time visiting ICE, you may want to leave yourself 30 minutes to find your way to our lobby at 225 Liberty Street.

We will begin checking guests in 15 minutes before the class start time. Please note that classes will enjoy the menu at the end of class. While a snack platter is offered in both morning and evening classes, you may want to consider a light snack before joining us for class. Additionally, for those enrolled in a pastry or knife skills class, a meal is not planned so we recommend bringing a snack. Class menus subject to change.

Italian Surf and Turf
Reviewed by Jenna D. on 3/2/2019
The food was very good and the chef was very knowledgeable. I found it difficult to keep up with the pace since I am just beginning to learn how to cook and the class was not as instructional as I had hoped. Overall, it was a good experience. Would recommend for people with confident skills in the kitchen.

The class was OK, but we should have been told ahead of time our group would only cook two of eight dishes and it wasn’t going to be our choice. We came to learn to make pasta and didn’t have that opportunity. It felt like we were cooking dinner for other people for $125 each.

I loved the course and our instructor Melanie was fantastic. it was fun to make all the food and have a potluck-style dinner at the end of the class. Unfortunately, I wound up getting food poisoning later that night... I don't think this was by any means the fault of my instructor or ICE. It was likely because of careless cross contamination between the raw eggs or raw meat and something else we had prepared, but it definitely put a damper on the experience.
