What you'll learn in this baking class:

Piping Techniques

In this three hour class, students will learn all the technical aspects of cake decorating techniques such as: correct use of pastry bags, different ways to create star borders, shell borders, rosette borders, zigzag borders, inverse borders, and braided borders.

Spatula Techniques

​​In this three hour class, students learn different spatula techniques to apply icing on your cakes. You’ll also learn how to create designs using a pastry bag. Students will also learn about the tools and techniques for leveling, using a serrated knife, cake levelers, fillings, and crumb coat.

Cupcake Decorating

Students will learn how to decorate cupcakes with fondant and gumpaste. We'll also learn how to make a rosette design on top of the cupcake using a pastry tip and pastry bag. Students can take their beautiful cupcakes home with them.

Chocolate and Vanilla Workshop

In this three hour class, students learn all the technical aspects of baking and measuring ingredients. Students will also learn how to elaborate a very moist vanilla cake, cupcakes, blackout chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream icing, and chocolate and mocha filling.

Dominican Cakes I

Learn how to make a delicious Dominican cake. In this three hour class, students will learn how to make two different versions of this famous cake. We'll also learn how to make blueberry cake, marble cake, mocha cake, amaretto cake, Piña Colada cake. pineapple cake, strawberry cake, as well as learning the entire secret to elaborate the meringue icing.

Dominican Cakes II

Learn how to make a delicious Vanilla Dominican cake. In this three hour class the student will learn how to make a Black Fruit Cake, Pineapple Upside-Down Cake, Orange Cupcakes, as well as pineapple, strawberry, and dulce de leche filling. Also learn the entire secret to the elaborate meringue icing and Italian buttercream.

Intro to Fondant Techniques

In this two day workshop, you’ll learn all the technical secrets to roll out fondant and cover a cake using this sugar paste. Students will also learn how to use gum paste and fondant to create different designs. For this workshop, we will provide an 8”x 8” square cake cover with buttercream icing.

  • Everything necessary to participate in the class is provided for you to use. You do not need to purchase any tools or equipment prior to the class, or bring anything with you to class.​
  • All our classes are offered In English and Spanish. 
  • No type of video or digital recording permitted
  • Students will receive a 10% discount if they decide to purchase the tools used in class.
  • Bring your notebook and pen.

Refund Policy
Payment & refund policies & make-up policies to register for any class, payment in full is required at the time of registration. Two weeks withdrawal notice is required for a refund; but please note a transaction fee will be deducted from the refund for each and every class seat registration that is canceled by the registrant/student based on the following scale: classes up to $125 will incur a $20 fee, classes in the $150-$350 range will have a $30 fee, classes valued over $350 will incur a $50 fee. When a class is dropped 3-13 days prior to the class start date, only school class credit will be issued, and the corresponding transaction fee will be deducted. Rescheduling a class still entails a cancellation and, therefore, a transaction fee will still be charged to customers. 

There are no refunds or school credit issued when fewer than 48 hours’ notice from the class start date is given. Students must attend the first class in a series. Students may make up missed classes in any course without charge after attending the first lesson. Make-up classes are available on a limited basis and must be arranged with the registration manager. All make-up classes are subject to availability. Missed make-up classes can be rescheduled.

reserves the right to cancel any class that fails to attract sufficient enrollment. In case of cancellation, all students will be notified and a full refund will be given. Sugarroom maintains the right to deny student registration and/or entrance if more than 20 minutes late.
