What you'll learn in this weaving class:

Experiment different techniques with different materials during your session. At the end, you’ll surprise yourself. This all day class was great, though very independent class allowing you to express yourself and explore through weaving

This was a very good class. The intern Hannah was always ready to be helpful, though towards the end I wanted to do something that she had not been taught to do, but two other people helped me out. For me, the session was too long, and I had to quit early because my back was aching so much and I was making so many mistakes that nobody could help me with. I think it might be better to make the hour allotment more flexible. I was one of very few people left working in the last hour up to 5 pm. I don't know who worked longer after that. However, I was very happy to have the experience of weaving for the first time (along with the 2-hour class I took on Friday before this one). I would not mind doing more work, but getting to NYC and home again is a 4-hour trip, so I probably will not be repeating this. Certainly, I would not do 7 hours again! I can only imagine doing the 2-hour session and maybe extending it to 3 or 4 hours. The advanced classes look too difficult and too expensive and to impractical in scheduling for me. Thanks to everyone who helped me. I am sorry that I did not get all the names clearly.

Love this class so much. This was my second time taking the class and I can’t wait to go back again. The studio is so lovely, and the weaving is so relaxing to do. You get to leave class with a finished project which feels really nice. And everyone I have met who works at the studio is so patient and kind.

I loved Shino’s class. She was kind and patient and took her time showing me everything I wanted to know about weaving. This was my first class doing anything related to finding a new hobby and I absolutely enjoyed myself. Definitely recommend!

I am so glad that I signed up for this class. I can’t recommend it highly enough. A whole afternoon flew by and I had no idea of time because I was having so much fun. This is truly a meditative art. Yukako gives gentle instruction and then lets your inspiration flow. I really recommend this class for anyone who is looking to calm their mind through a mindful meditative art practice. And you get to leave with a finished product too!

I made some really beautiful work but the course is more of just renting the equipment than it is a "class" The two teachers kind of just show you how to begin and let you work. There really isn't too much to learn though I guess so it was fine. The All-Day session is a bit long so I would go with something in mind that you'd like to make.

By the end of the all day session I would have given the class 5 stars. When I arrived I was set up at a loom, shown how to begin and left to work on my own. It was clear I was a beginner. I wish there would have been a brief introduction to weaving and/or an understanding that the instructor could be available to guide and teach as needed. There was no offer of help and I had no idea about what if anything to ask for. I wish it had been made clear that she was available if desired to teach and guide . Later on in the day I overheard one of the other students ask about a technique and so I asked as well. Another student asked how to make a bobbin and I asked her to show me. . At one point I noticed a sampler on the wall labeling different weaving techniques and asked for her to demonstrate how to do it. Each time I inquired the instructor was very receptive. After a few hours I finally felt I received enough help to create a really lovely wall hanging. I strongly suggest that a bit of outreach and concrete information at the start of the session by the instructor would be very valuable for new students.

I came just to try weaving and I loved it, the whole experience was amazing. The place itself is cozy and I felt like home, very clean, nice music and relaxing atmosphere. Introduction took no longer than a minute, so you start actually weaving something right away. But there are also lots of interesting techniques to learn, so I learned a couple different ones. But the good thing is that everyone can go at their own pace, be creative or do whatever they want. It's not cheap but its worth at least to try it. It's also a great entertainment for kids, easy and satisfying because you get impressive results with very little effort. A very rewarding hobby.

Hi Jill! The loom is a floor loom that is as tall as a regular table when sitting. Small children can stand and weave, but adults may have difficulty weaving for a long time. Hope this helps!
